About YPAFRICA
(Film & Tv)

Exclusively convened for young professionals between 21 and 33 years who are currently engaged in or interested in pursuing a career in the Film and TV industry. Participants must be University graduates of African descent. This event is virtual so you can join from anywhere.

On October 2nd, 2021, we would have 50 breakout rooms. Each room will have one leading professional as mentor engaging 7 young professionals.

Benefit from answers, insights, experiences and guidance offered by a mentor and also from everyone else in the room in addition to forming new relationships.

All participants will access a virtual goody bag full of resources from Linkedin as well as an eBook, One Lesson Learned (which is a collection of vital career lessons shared by 25 senior managers of top firms)

To participate, you register and pay a commitment fee of N2,000 ($4). Every participant gets a digital certificate of participation. Communication will be in English.

FAQs

YPAfrica (Film and Tv) is a mentoring platform for young professionals who must be graduates and must be between the ages of 21 and 33.

Previously, the event was held as YPLAGOS and YPCALABAR. Now, it’s being convened online, chiefly due to the Covid 19 pandemic. We have run YPONLINE (June 2020), YPFilm&Tv (November 2020), YfPOnline for Young female professionals (March 2021), YPLaw for Young lawyers (May 2021), YPAfrica (June 12, 2021) 

Unfortunately, you can’t. However, we will try and match you with a mentor that is close to your expressed interest. Plus please note that our selected mentors are leaders who have diverse experience that will be of benefit to you in a lot of ways than it may appear.

It’s ₦2,000 ($4) per person. Your registration is confirmed after you make a payment.

It will run from 9.30am to 12.15pm noon. 

We are inviting young professionals to be part of the short film contest.

  • Theme is ONE CALL
  • Narrative: present a strong message provoking the need for your country to embrace unity in spite of your nation’s diversity.
  • Runtime: 90 seconds.
  • Submission deadline: Wednesday,  29th September 2021 (11am WAT)
  • Accepted format: MP4 / 16 x 9 aspect ratio / Not more than 80Mb
  • All entries must be submitted by persons who are duly registered and confirmed for YPAfrica (Film & Tv) Mentoring session. Your registration is confirmed by payment of registration fee.
  •  A license for rights to the music is always required if you want to use it in your short film. You will need to gain permission from the owners of the music. Proof of music clearance or relevant attributed license is required to be stated in your film.
  • Any entry with film deemed to be a product of plagiarism will be automatically disqualified.
  • Short film should be uploaded via wetransfer.com and send link to us using the submission form.
